For a bit of fun at the weekend the team at Pacific Consultants cycled some of the Hauraki Rail Trail, in a 28km return trip.
Despite the weather being a bit fickle everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We met at the Waikino Station in the Karangahake Gorge on Sunday morning, where we were allocated our rental bikes, and had a last coffee.
The ride crosses under the Karangahake Gorge road, then followed the river on the old railway path once built for transporting gold out of the gorge.
We then entered a kilometre long dark tunnel gradually descending towards Paeroa. Before stopping at sunny Paeroa for lunch, we all got thoroughly drenched
in a downpour.
After lunch we set back towards Waikino station retracing our steps, and enjoying the warm sun on our backs.
